HI. For those of you who already know something about me - no introduction needed. For those who don't know me, my name is Dar, I'm female and was born July 15th, 1956 (Cancer, the crab) and am married to a pretty good guy named Jake, since Aug. 9th, 1991! I picked the name BrokeDown Palace for my dad who passed away in Aug. of '85. The day after his funeral, we drove from Appleton, WI to Red Rocks, CO for 3 DEAD shows. The boys played a brokedown version of BrokeDown Palace that day, and that song really put me at peace with my dad's passing when I needed it most. I've asked my friends to play it for me someday, when I pass on. Enough of that.

THE GRATEFUL DEAD I saw the GRATEFUL DEAD for the 1st time 7-11-81 at Alpine Valley (my 1st BrokeDown Palace) and the entire thing just WOWWED me. Who are these guy's?? Where'd they learn to play like that?? And who are all these people that actually follow them around?? The Bus Came By and I Got On ....Took my brother, David to his 1st GRATEFUL DEAD show on 12-3-81, indoor venue, that was OK. Then took him to Alpine in Aug. of '82 .... he couldn't believe what he had just heard. He too, was now on the bus .... along with his then girlfriend Chris .... and she too is on the bus. Took Jake to his 1st show 6-22-91 .... another happy bus rider. Over time we have brought others, Terri, Brenda & Dan. We've run into others .... like Slick and a Christopher and his odd assortment of friends. Some we brought only once, they didn't like the bumpy ride. I've seen them on the east coast, in the midwest, and on the west coast. Remember Willy at Hank's Place and at the Oakland Coliseum? Chinese New Year and Mardis Gras were shows to have the best times at!! Outdoor amphitheaters were my favorite places, not stadiums! From '81 to '95. I saw them play around 100 times (not enough) (have all my stubs!!) and I saw the JGB play 15 times. If I had to pick between the two, I'd pick the JGB, after all, Jerry was the band. Do I have a favorite GRATEFUL DEAD SONG? No, although I am really into Daze Between and Eyes. My favorite JGB song would be Simple Twist of Fate. Those four words play an important part in all our lives. Saw the boys play for the last time 7-8-95. :o(

TAPES. Because my brother is a Taper, I do have some Masters, but most are 1st generation. Mostly of shows I've seen, others of shows he has seen. Got my masters for being the tapers roadie, getting equipment in, down and out of venues.

HOME. I live in Appleton, WI, just south of THE FROZEN TUNDRA OF LAMBEAU FIELD. Yes, I'm a PACKER fan, but not a CHEESEHEAD. Not all Packer fans run around with cheese wedges on their heads.

PETS. We have a Border Collie named Bear. We also have four cats Peggy-O, Rider, C.C. and Hunter. I love my animals. I never understood Deadheads that took their dogs on tour and then let them run. I'm sure some never made it back. I'm sure some died.

VACATIONS. I love to vacation in California. I love the sounds and smells of the ocean. Although I'm afraid of the water, I love to walk the beaches, check out tide pools, climb the rocks .... leaving nothing but my footprints. I don't mind doing the tourist trap thing, but enjoy the free, natural beauty better. HWY. 1 has to be the most beautiful ride on Earth.

JOB. I have worked as a dental assistant since 1976!! I really enjoy my job. I have the opportunity to work in a progressive, state of the art dental office (except no web site to link to yet). We offer general dental care as well as implants, and drill less dentistry using the KCP. We also offer cosmetic care including whitening (We're doing our part to make the world a brighter place). Good boss, good benefits. Don't ask if I can get you NITROUS .... NO. I don't believe in it. Makes me feel goofy for a few minutes, puts a hole in the OZONE forever!

LOVES/HATES. I love spring and summer. I love hot weather and thunderstorms. I love animals and tide pools. I love flowers, walking in waves. Mexican food. I love DEAD music and dancing to it. I love kind buds and psychedelics. I hate winter and snow. People who cut their lawns early in the morning. And snakes.
